summary
The transactionaliets succeeded better than others in keeping our world together, thus avoiding the division into physical and perceptual worlds. Unfortunately their theoretical liberation seems to be forgotten today. However, during the last few years new evidence has been accumulated concerning the interaction between man and his surroundings - evidence from physiological science and accordingly not so easily discarded. It might not be an exaggeration to state that every change in the space surrounding man can be observed in his own organism. Some experimental results relating visual information rate to cortical arousal and heart rate are summarized by means of a theoretical model. Although the new facts have led to many interesting psychological hypotheses, their philosophical implications have not been thoroughly discussed. Some such implications are suggested.
